That sums it up pretty well for me as well.

Today I did something I haven’t done since junior high (um… 19 years ago)… I used a mac. I’ve got a used macbook (10.4) to use as a test client for some of the stuff we’re doing internally. There are a lot of mac users at IBM so we have to start making sure our internal apps work well in Safari. In any case, now that I’ve got it, I might as well figure out what all I can do with it. If anyone has any suggestions for must-have apps, please let me know.
Here in California we get a lot of sun; especially here in the Central Valley. Given that, I really have to wonder why solar collections systems aren’t yet being installed on new homes as a standard feature. There is a significant amount of roof space out here that is simply not being used for anything productive.
We moved into our current ~1230 square foot, 3 bedroom home back in 2001 when it was just my wife, myself and our eldest son. One of the bedrooms was my office and we had plenty of room. Seven years later, there are five of us here. My office is now my eldest sons bedroom; our five year old and toddler share a bedroom; and my “office” is a small corner of the living room. We’re completely out of space. Because of the current housing market, there are some insanely good deals available for some really nice houses in this area. Unfortunately, we need to sell our currently place before taking advantage of those good deals (I don’t want to have two mortgages to deal with). So we’ve decided to put our house on the market and just let it sit there for a while — in the current market, it’s going to take a while for it to sell. Before we do list it, there are a number of projects we have to complete, including new paint inside and out, fixing up the yards, and updating the 15+ year old appliances in the kitchen. For the past couple of weekends I’ve been chipping paint. Tomorrow I’ll be washing down the walls. Next weekend, assuming everything goes according to plan, we’ll start painting. I’ll keep y’all posted on the progress.
Congressman Rangel is such an inspiration… “I could probably find something for … one of those red cars and then I think my constituents would say, ‘With all the money that he gets, this is the respect he shows us?’“
