Washington DC Pics

One of the motivators that got me thinking about getting into photography were the horrible pics I took on my recent trip to Washington DC. See the Flickr sidebar to the right and go to the D.C. set to see some examples. I accidentally had the camera in macro mode so none of the pictures really came out and I didn't know anything about what was going on until I got back home and RTFM. So after blowing it in D.C. I figured it was time for me to actually learn what the heck I was doing. In the past couple of days I've learned about shutter speeds, ISO sensitivities, apertures, focal lengths, white balancing, histograms, etc. So today I know exactly why the D.C. pictures look like crap. Learning why you screwed up is an important step in solving the problem (and NEVER repeating it).
