Joe and Mark are talking about training goldfish and professors. I just have to jump in with my own experience. Back in high school I had an American Government class immediately following lunch. The instructor was this wonderful and very intelligent man named Mr. Nunes. He had this very distinctive and very methodic lecturing style in which he’d make a point then pause a minute or two for folks in the class to jot it down, then he’d make another point, pause, point, pause… etc. Through the course of the year I managed to train myself to nap during the pauses. He’d talk, I’d wake and write down his point, then doze during the pause. He’d speak again, I’d wake and write down the point. Because I always scored an A on his quizes and tests, he never complained.
